Helot Prime has been the capital of the Empire for over six millenia after the Imperial seat was relocated from Khurosov after its ecological disaster.

Local legend on Helot hints at an alien race once occupying the planet and being brutally exterminated by the Tzar to make way for human occupation. The legend survives to this day amongst the farming peoples of the border provinces who can trace their roots back to the founding of the Empire, and constitutes much of their folklore and superstition.

Becoming the new Imperial throne world after Khurosov meant drastic changes for the population as the backwater world was set on a path to becoming the metropolis it is now. The lessons of Khurosov were well heeded however, and endeavours were made to preserve the planets biosphere despite the construction of massive population and commerce centers in the northern hemisphere.

The planet displays conditions ranging from temperate in the northern habitat and farming regions to windswept deserts in the equatorial regions. Steaming rainforest jungles in the southern hemisphere eventually give way to Arctic conditions at the southern pole.

The seven Alpha cities of the northern continents are mega urban conglomerates, home to billions that constitute the standing Imperial armies recruitment pool. Beneath these cities reside even deeper under cities that deal with waste and recycling management where manual labour is provided by an enslaved mutant underclass who rarely, if ever, see the light of day.

Southward from the Alpha Cities lie the border provinces, home to the rural farming class who supply not only foodstuffs for the Alpha cities but also hardy soldiers who specialise in warfare amidst untamed lands: deep forests and mountain ranges, a stark contrast to the Redcoats of the Alpha cities who drill solely for urban war.

The desert regions act as a buffer between the southern jungles and the Northern habitat zones. Here Imperial recruits from the local population patrol the barren dunes for signs of incursion and pirate convoys: the deep desert regions being home to mutant communities whilst the southern jungle regions are known for harbouring rogues and mercenaries.

Being ever changing and impenetrably dense in vegetation the southern jungles and rainforests are used by black marketeers and other pirates as drop zones for black market cargo. By the time the Imperials have located any shipment it is usually long emptied and on it's way north. Ancient laws preserving the jungle regions restrict heavy handed Imperial policing of the region.

In the southern pole resides Stellar command: a vast underground complex carved from pure glacial matter. Away from the static noise of the northern regions the massive ice caverns of Stellar Command acts as a communication and coordination hub for Helot and it's orbital docks and shipyards, further bolstered by it's sister Lunar Command on the dark side of Helots moon.
