It has been almost seven hundred centuries since the Tzar founded the Empire and brought stability to the Redemption Sector, rescuing mankind from the brink of extinction in the face of ancient galactic wars of genocide and insanity.
As great ruin erased the previous accomplishments of the multi racial galaxy spanning government, the Redemption sector became a safe haven and refuge for the remains of humanity.
With a ruthless fury the Tzar enforced an iron clad dictatorship over all his dominion: the Pax Imperios, ensuring mankind's survival through the dark age to come. All contact was lost with the rest of the galaxy as it descended into mindless violence, filled with crusades of blood and dark infamy as blame and terror roamed the stars.
Today the Tzar is remembered as no more than a legend: worshipped as a superman of old by a fanatical church, and revered as a god like statesman by the ruling Imperial council.
Through ages of intrigue, betrayal and murder in the wake of the Tzar, a cunning noble house attained house imperial status over all other pretenders of the court and ushered in a ruling Imperial dynasty that would last millennia. Allying itself with the Church of Tzar and the sinister Techno Communion, this house Imperial would go on to subjugate all peers within the Redemption sector and establish today's recognisable dominions, colonies, protectorates and mandates, all pledging allegiance to the Empire of Tzar.
Holding sway over it's subjects, House Imperial boasted a monopoly over the ether with a massive fleet of warships unmatched by any of the noble houses under it's lord ship. Commanded by the Emperor, the head of the Imperial households, the Empire of Tzar became an ironclad powerhouse of absolute rule: all opposition was oppressed to the extreme.
Ruling from their capital Helot Prime, the Emperor and his successors ruled unchallenged for four millennia. With such total power wielded without test, an age of mindless ritual, pomp and extravagant ceremony allowed the rot of complacency to take root within all facets of government... allowing the unthinkable to occur.
Secret cults of sedition have succeeded in destroying Helot Prime's capital city in an atomic act of terrorism. Removing the command structure of the Empire: the Emperor and his council obliterated in the attacks, the scattered remnants of the nobility now scramble to regroup on the planets northern continent as the space lanes and and jump gates of the Redemption Sector whisper of war and revolution.
Of the seven original Alpha cities on Helots northern continent: the capital lies in radioactive ruins, one stands rogue, three stand fortified for war and abandoned by the populace, and two burst at the seams with refugees and the conglomeration of alien and rogue persons now taking shelter from a degenerating infrastructure.
Occult forces now march upon the Empires defences and strange entities terrorise the crowded cities. With the Imperial fleet many months away and themselves beginning to engage in coordinated attacks from multiple insurgent foes, all rests on the Emperors only surviving heir Vamalia being able to rally and temper the feuding Noble houses and leading the Empires troops to victory.
Assembling a rag tag council of military, noble and rogue fighting forces, Empress Vamalia begins to plan the reconquest of Helot Prime.
