The Sphinx is a monolithic construct of the most ancient kind.

Drifting alone in deep space the mechanical conglomeration of the Sphinx sits affixed to the remnants of a destroyed planetoid in a static cloud of asteroids and impregnable defence monitors.

No dating or investigation has taken place regarding the origin of the Sphinx, even official acknowlegement of it's existence is tentative at best.

Those daring adventurers or pirates who have braved it's defences and donned pressure suits to stand before it's mountain sized form, or been granted access to it's halls and catacombs by the cloaked robotic guardians, all speak of an ancient and seemingly imprisoned artificial intelligence that speaks prophetically to those it grants audience.

Sympathetic to biological intelligences, and brutally un accepting of machines, the Spinx hints at a forgotten schism between machines protective of mankind and those who sought to exploit the biological races of the galaxy... and succeeded.
